Getting Started

So I (Mick) had wanted to put together a document with a bunch of pictures that we could send to people who we don't keep in touch with as well as we should like, to talk to them and show them what and how we're doing and hopefully to start a conversation. That never materialized, and fortunately before I actually tried to make one, I had the idea to do it in blog form instead. This would also ensure that my mother would actually read it. So, to get the ball rolling, here is what we finished today:

My Ma (thanks!) gave us a bunch (43) raspberry plants that as you can see are planted and mulched with pine needles. Raspberries prefer slightly acidic soil, so we thought the needles would fit the bill just right. Moreover, it helps clear up our yard down here in the village. Also, the rhubarb crown that we split into 4 different plants is doing great!

And we discovered that the property had a few leeks on it (some are even in our vineyard).

In fact, there are leeks everywhere!

And to finish off our first post, a view from our property:

Keep in touch!

  1. Very nice! I cannot believe there were 43 raspberry plants.
This will be good to show to Grandma and Grandpa, too.
