Sarah and I just finished some calculations, and we realized that once our current round of wines are finished, we'll need over four cases to bottle them all! So anyone who has bottles, or who will have bottles, please don't recycle them for we have desperate need!
Wine bottles, that is.
ReplyDeleteJohn asks: We have a couple, what style= Cork or screw cap
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I can use both, I think the opening is the same size in both.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, how's the brewing going?
Judy and I have been brewing almost every weekend ;-)
ReplyDeleteSo far we have made 15 batches of beer. Of that we have tasted and finished 6 of them. We sure are enjoying all the different styles of beer.
By doing the small 2 gallon batches, we can do a batch in about an hour and 30 minutes.
We have a bunch of small kegs lagering in the basement. :-)
Our Chocolate Porter is ready to try today (5/9/10).
C-Ya, John
Good heavens, even with small batches you've got me beat hands down...probably 3 or 4 to one! Sarah is especially enamored with the idea of a chocolate stout. She'll be coming up the Sunday I have drill; maybe we can work something out (I'll bring something to make it worth your while, cider or something) May 21-23, FYI.
ReplyDeleteWhat lagers have you made? Is it cold enough down there? I can't wait until we have an actual house with a cool basement and so on. Possibly even a full sized sink.
Also, I called Grandma today, she said you had some idea for our home and homestead. I'd be happy to hear them. Maybe something will work out that weekend? (Especially that Sunday, even if short)

Hello Mickey,
ReplyDeleteNo true lager beers :-)
Everything we have brewed has been using top fermenting ale yeast. I have used only dry yeast: Safale US-05, Safale 04, Danstar Nottingham, Danstar Windsor, Munton's premium Gold, & MrBeer brewers yeast.
When I said "lagering" it is really: storing / conditioning in the cellar.
We tried the Chocolate Stout, Mmmmmm....
Mickey, give me a phone call some evening this week.
