Feeling Cozy

Mick has become a frequent visitor to Lowes (up to three trips in one day) working on insulating the ceiling. He added cross-braces between the joists and insulated the gable ends.

The next step was baffling, to allow air to vent.

Then many many rolls of insulation between the joists and above the cross braces. The blue boxes are in case of eventual electrical wiring. The insulation immediately made a noticeable difference in the sound absorption (more) and the draftiness (less).

OSHA hasn't seen Mick's set-up yet: 2 x 12s balanced between scaffolding and beams.

And the final touch... plastic vapor barrier between the insulation and the paneling.

With sleeping bag, kerosene heater, oil lamp, and chairs, the cabin has become quite a cozy place to spend the night.

Our guest bedroom will be ready soon! :)
