1 Cat - hunting for a drink out of a rain bucket before embarking on his next epic adventure
Always aware of his surroundings, as a good adventurer should be.
Waiting to greet us as we return home for the evening.
Adventuring is *stretch* such tiring work!
1 Dog - enjoying the sunshine, or hit by a bus?
1 Red Eft! which Mick encountered in the food forest
15 Ducks - who generally spend their days (as long as we are on the hill) roaming through the food forest and surrounding woods in search of deliciousness
While they usually start out in a tight pack, they generally spread out as they get more comfortable with their surroundings.
They make quite the herd of bobbing heads and tails.
One of our male Welsh harlequins seems especially friendly and amiable and will approach us on his own.
One of our lovely Khaki Campbells (we believe they are both female).
The Welsh Harlequins are developing beautiful colors too, and each is unique.
We provide the ducks with oats before closing them into their tractor for their evening. It is their favorite thing!
They know who it is who holds their grains and will follow him anywhere!
Although they aren't necessarily very good at figuring out how to get to their much-desired oats.
We were finally able to herd the group into their pen, and about half of them made it into the tractor (with the oat trough). Then a handful of the outsiders managed to figure out how to get to the food. Then -- well, you can see what happens to the three left outside. This scene is a pretty regular occurrence. :)
Finally, to round out this post, Mick got a kick out of our 3-species weeding program. :)
Cheers!
Adorable :) I can't wait to meet the duckies.
