Aquarium Life

Mick has continued work on establishing the aquarium and its ecosystem.

Our newest addition is three marbled self-cloning crayfish.  So called because they clone themselves when they lay eggs (the species is entirely female).

Every so often we catch a glimpse of one or more of them exploring their new home.

(when they're not eating Mickey's plants! although so far plant damage has been minimal)

They are fun to watch!

Unique view of the sunset too, no?

    1. Yes, it is beautiful! And Mickey keeps changing the water, so it is getting clearer and clearer. (The driftwood is leaching tannins.) Unfortunately, we have a lot less snails than we did before we got the crayfish (we had small snails that hitched a ride on the water plants we bought). But the crayfish are fun to watch! and Mick says we still have lots of snail eggs waiting.
